Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF), presented by TD Canada Trust, wrapped up another successful year on Saturday, Jun 4th 2016. This year was the 5th anniversary year of TSFF celebrating 31 film selections from around the world over a two-day period at Innis Town Hall.
Approximately 350 audience members attended the festival, and also took part in the red carpet event, TSFF Best Photogenic Contest, TD Selfie Contest and post-festival reception. Mingu Kim, the Executive Director of TSFF, shared with the audience how proud he was to be able to bring the biggest smartphone film festival in North America to Toronto for 5 years in a row.
TSFF presented 6 awards this year in collaboration with jurors (Jaimy Warner, Lesley Johnson, and Ron Leach) and 3 community partners. The award recipients include: Best Canadian Film ($1,000) – ‘The Echoes of Chloe Cooley’ by Andrea Conte, Best International Film ($1,000) – ‘Single to London’ by Ryd Cook, Best Emerging Filmmaker presented by Raindance Canada – ‘Jerry’s Journal’ by Ronald Mein, Best Women in Film presented by Toronto ACTRA Women’s Committee – ‘Look Up’ by Sarah Slywchuk, Best Film About Autism – ‘Would You Take No For an Answer?’ by Kiru Srikanth, and TD Audience Choice Award – ‘A Journey Through Sri Lanka’ by Suresh Doss.
