(TORONTO – April 9, 2019) The Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF) film submissions officially closed on April 7, 2019. This year, TSFF has received over 130 local and international submissions.The top 10 countries TSFF has received submissions from include: Canada, United States, Australia, Italy, France, India, Iran, Russia, Spain and United Kingdom. During the last 5 years, TSSF has received over 700 films for consideration.
TSFF has announced the event details for its upcoming festival. The 8th Annual TSFF will take place on June 21-23, 2019 at Innis Town Hall located at the University of Toronto St. George Campus.
TSFF will be also running the 48 Hour Film Challenge in collaboration with George Brown College. The event will be a spontaneous film challenge where participants work in teams to create a Smartphone film in 48 hours. There will be a reception for the 48 Hour Film Challenge, held on June 20, 2019 at George Brown College. The selected films will be screened during the last day of the festival on June 23, 2019.
Mingu Kim, the Executive Director of TSFF, expressed his excitement to present TSFF for the 8th time this year. “It's going to be a great festival based on what we've received so far. The inaugural 48 Hour Film Challenge was a great success last year and we hope to continue to inspire local filmmakers.”
