(TORONTO – May 16, 2018) The Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF) has announced the event details for its upcoming festival. The 7th Annual TSFF will take place on June 8-10, 2018 at Innis Town Hall located in at the University of Toronto St. George Campus. TSFF will also be hosting a Pre-Launch Event taking place on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at George Brown College.
For the very first time, TSFF is launching the Smartphone Film Kabaret with Kino T.O. The Kabaret will be a spontaneous film challenge where participants work in teams to create a Smartphone film in 48 hours. The selected films will be screened during the last day of the festival on June 10.
Mingu Kim, the Executive Director of TSFF, shared his excitement on the launching of Smartphone Film Kabaret taking place in 3 weeks. "We are very happy to announce the inaugural 'Smartphone Film Kabaret,' a filmmaking challenge in partnership with Kino T.O. and George Brown College. I hope this new initiative will contribute to the advancement of Toronto's film industry overall."
This year, winners, out of the 33 final selections, will be chosen in 5 categories including the Best Canadian Film, the Best International Film, Best Emerging Filmmaker, Best Women in Film, and Audience Choice Award.
