(TORONTO – March 22, 2017) The Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF) has extended its regular submission deadline from March 24, 2017 to April 17, 2017 due to an overwhelming amount of responses. The late submission has been moved to April 27, 2017 accordingly. Last year, TSFF presented 31 film selections from around the world over a two-day period in the heard of downtown Toronto.
This year, in its 6th edition, TSFF is coming back as #TheFestivalofThe6ix. On Mar. 18-19th, TSFF has also successfully hosted its inaugural industry series, Smartphone Filmmaking Weekend Workshop, in partnership with two innovative community partners, Cyber Film School and George Brown College School of Media & Performing Arts.
"It's the first filmmaking workshop solely dedicated to using smartphone devices." said Mingu Kim, Executive Director of TSFF. "With so many people doing live streaming and broadcasting on social media, I feel more people are interested in learning how to maximize the ability of their phones as a filming device. So even for non-professional filmmakers, there is a demand for people to take workshops like ours that will enable them to take better shots using their phones and learn how to use various lighting techniques to get the results they are looking for."
TSFF plans to host more workshops throughout the year, and the details are to be announced on the TSFF website as well as its Social Network channels.
