2015 Toronto Smartphone Film Festival Announces Submission Guidelines and Deadlines

Toronto, ON - Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF) announces Submission Guidelines and Deadline for the 2015 festival.

Submission Deadline: Sunday, April 12, 2015

Rules and Regulations

A. General:

1. Open to any genre of choice including but not limited to animation, comedy, horror, music video, documentary, and experimental.
2. The length of the video must be 10 minutes or under.
3. All copyright material must be cleared by the applicant if used in the final edit. Any issue that may arise due to infringement of copyrights is the applicant’s sole responsibility. TSFF will not be responsible for any infringement of copyrights.
4. If your video contains language other than English, English subtitle is a must.
5. No nudity, profanity and extreme violence are allowed.

B. Production:

1. Videos must be shot on Smartphone devices and/or tablets of any brand. (Videos shot using DSLRs, handycam camcorders, point-and-shoot cameras will not be accepted.)
2. External audio recording devices are acceptable if needed.
3. Two or more behind-the-scene photos/videos must be sent at the time of submission. (For animation films, a written description should be provided if photos/videos are not available.)

C. Post-production:

1. Videos may be edited on any editing software.
2. A short clip of raw footage (30 seconds) used in the final edit must be submitted to prove you have shot the video on acceptable devices.
3. All videos are to be sent in full resolution as a QuickTime file – Do not compress your video.

*NOTE*

All submissions will be reviewed by the Jury, and only selected films will be screened during the film festival and on Arirang Korea TV via OMNI 2. Finalists give TSFF the exclusive rights to screen, broadcast, publish and distribute on all possible media platforms.

Toronto Smartphone Film Festival holds the right without payment to finalists to show all submitted projects on all possible media platforms and use it for promotional and screening purposes indefinitely.

* Films, filmmakers and actors from Quebec are excluded from submissions.
** TSFF is not responsible for shipping and handling fees of all prizes.


Deadline for Entry: Sunday, April 12, 2015.
Results will be notified by: Sunday May 3, 2015.

SUBMISSION CHECKLIST:

1. Final Video (QuickTime File)
2. Raw Footage (30 seconds – must be used in the final edit of video)
3. Submission Form (Completed & Signature required)
4. Short Bio of Director
5. Synopsis (max. 200 words)
6. Behind-the-Scene photos and/or videos (Mantatory)


SUBMISSION PROCEDURES (Final Video & Raw Footage):

1. Go to www.smartphonefilm.ca .
2. Complete the submission form found on the submission page.
3. Send final video and raw footage (must be submitted through one of the following options)

A. Upload your final video and raw footage on www.vimeo.com.

1. Create a Vimeo account.
2. Go to Private Settings.
3. Find Who can watch this video?
4. Choose Only people with a password.
5. Create a password for privacy setting and provide the password on your submission form.

B. Use www.wetransfer.com (or other FTP services) and send the information to tsff.programming@gmail.com.

C. Mail final video and raw footage on DVD to:
