    Kate Vollum

    Kate Vollum holds a BAH from Queen's University in Film Studies and Sociology. She also
    attended the joint MA program in Culture and Communication at York University and Ryerson University. Kate began her work with the NFB as part of the Education team, delivering media literacy workshops to both students and teachers alike. She has since worked on numerous critically acclaimed projects such as Stories We Tell, 2012 (Best Canadian Film, Toronto Critics Association; Best Feature Length Documentary, Canadian Screen Awards; Best Non-fiction Film, New York Film Critics Circle) and My Prairie Home, 2013 (nominated for Best Feature Length Documentary, Canadian Screen Awards).

    Kate was the Associate Producer for the ground-breaking interactive project HIGHRISE (2015), which has won 2 Emmy awards and a Peabody award. She was also the Associate Producer for the recent experimental series SOUVENIR (2015), in which indigenous creators re-worked NFB archival footage into new and compelling short films about indigenous identity. Kate also produced one of the prototype projects for the innovative NFB/CFC Open Immersion VR Lab (2016), which saw 6 Indigenous artists from Canada and 6 artists of colour from the US participate in an intensive virtual reality residency.

    Susan Baker is the Manager of Business & Rights at CBC. With over 35 years in the film and television business, Sue’s career combines 20 years of business acumen with 15 years of line producing award winning documentary series and features.  Working for and with productions for small and large organizations, local and an international audiences on a diverse range of subjects, she understands both the constraints of the independent producer and the corporate culture of a broadcaster.
